Month back into things.

So, awesome stuff going on. Tons of workshops. One learning about puppets, and the other learning about Spoken Word Poetry and how we can turn that into an on stage piece. More on that in another post.

I've also decided to try to go out more, and the first show I saw of the new year in Chicago was called Minsk. It was amazing.  See Christ Jones's review Here.

I don't want to write a review, so I'll just touch on some things. First being that it was incredibly simple. The staging consisted of a handful of chairs, simple costumes, a rug,  a corded mic, some sound and light cues, and some projections. It was amazingly powerful and it really drew me closer and made me feel for the stories that these people were telling.

And that was the main thing, they were all true stories coming from these peoples mouths, about terrorist bombings,  about run- ins with the law and trying to explain how hard it is to have a sexual identity in a totalitarian state.

On the school front- It was a jumbled up week due to auditions and workshops.

Meisner-  Starting to get interesting and easier, and I see how it goes hand and hand with acting/voice work. Started doing the "repetition" exercise while doing an activity  For non-acting people, this is really hard to explain. Boiled down, it's a technique to help us recognize our first instincts so that we can use them with our acting. Sounds simple, promise it is not.

Acting- Still polishing up our scenes, getting ready for our showing

Speech- Learning/Practicing more Phonetics.

Those are the highlights! I'm going to try to hit the highlights instead of going through every class, vocal and Feldenkrais were still insightful, but its all kinda jumbled up with the workshops and our schedule.
